The Legion Handbook

The legion handbook is a compilation of the rules of the legion, the object of the legion and the aims of the legion.
Authored by the servant of God Frank Duff, the book contains almost everything one needs to know about the legion of Mary.

It is mostly described as the synopsis of the reasons why the legion was formed and its duty.
It contains materials that can help one in spiritual growth and it is arguably the best book that spoke our lady and her role in the salvation of mankind.
It is the legionary’s companion.

The Legion Tessera

The Legion Tessera is a booklet that contans the entire prayers of the legion of Mary.
It contains the opening prayers of the legion which must be said at the legion meeting and at the beginning of every legion work, the catena popularly called the magnificant which must be said at the legion meeting, every legion function and everyday by the legionary. It also contains the closing prayer which is also called confer oh Lord on us. The prayer is a sort of reminder of the charter of the legion and the reason why the legion is in existence.
The tessera is presented to every new member by the treasurer or vice-president of the praesidium and new members are encouraged to say those prayers contained therein.

Benefits of Being a Legionary

The benefits of being a legionary are enormous, but for space constraints we would like to just present the following:
  1. Having an opportunity to spread the word of God through our home to home visitation.

  2. Appreciating first hand the plight of sick patients and praying for them through our hospital visitation work.

  3. Helping the Catholic Church propagate its doctrine and faith to the younger ones through our catechism instruction work.

  4. Helping to guide the younger ones towards the prayers and devotion to our Lady the mother of Jesus through our block rosary visitation work.

  5. Enlightening oneself on the scriptures and the doctrines of the church through the attendance to our meetings listening to allocutio and our discussions on the handbook.

  6. Developing catholic friendship and being able to build ones faith in the church.

  7. Serving God practically by helping others.

  8. Developing an in depth knowledge in the spiritual matters and also developing our spiritual life

  9. Working and helping the poor

  10. Having time for recollections and retreats through our usual visits to retreat centers like monasteries, nunneries etc
